In Town Recreational League

BMYSO Recreational Soccer is designed to teach players soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in an environment where meaningful participation and fun is the key focus, not competition.

The Recreational Program is one where no standings are kept, focus is placed on giving all players equal play time, and players will be rotated to play and experience as many positions as possible. Coaches are urged to keep the scores as close as possible.

The Pre-K through 2nd Grade Divisions allows the opportunity to have kids starting at 3 years old to begin their introduction to the game of soccer, with the focus on FUN, FUN, and more FUN! BMYSO has developed a creative approach to help children and parents develop a love for the game of soccer (detailed below). Our goal is to deliver a fun learning environment that develops kids physically, socially, and builds self-esteem. It engages kids mentally and teaches the joy of physical participation. We guarantee plenty of smiles from both the players and parents.

The Pre-K through Kindergarten play in a 4 v 4 format*, on small sided fields with no goal keepers. The purpose of this is to give players more touches on the ball and give them more opportunities to practice their dribbling and passing skills. As well it gives the coaches the ability to stress the importance of sportsmanship and also the opportunity to practice new game strategies.

The 1
st and 2nd Grade divisions play as part of the Mendon/Upton program with other neighboring towns.  It is a 5 v 5 format (includes goalkeeper).  This division continues to prepare players for future travel programs while in a positive environment focusing on teamwork.

Recreational Uniforms

The recreational program will offer for purchase a reversible jersey during the registration process. These jerseys will be useable from season to season as long as they fit the child.

These jerseys will be Purple on one side and White on the other. The player is responsible for the shorts, shin guards, socks and cleats. Black shorts are recommended and encouraged. Shin guards and cleats are mandatory.

They will be reversible so we always have competing teams wearing different colors and no pinnies will be needed.
